Texture is what gives a room depth without making it feel busier.
Think linen, wool, wood, stone, leather, woven baskets, boucle, glass, metal, natural branches.
When the room has enough variation in material, you can actually use fewer accessories.

Start With What You Already Have
Look around the Entry + Living Room.
You may already have plenty of texture:
a woven rug
a wood console
linen curtains
a leather chair
a stone bowl
a knit throw
a ceramic lamp
The goal is not to add every texture possible.
It’s to make sure the room doesn’t rely on one material over and over again.
If everything is smooth, painted and upholstered in similar fabrics, the room can feel flat.
Mix Soft + Hard
One of the easiest formulas is contrast.
Soft sofa + wood table.
Wool rug + metal lamp.
Linen curtain + stone accessory.
Woven basket + polished console.
That contrast gives the eye something to move through.

Use Texture in the Entry Too
The Entry may not have much furniture, which makes material even more important.
A wood console, woven basket, ceramic lamp and framed art can create enough interest without piling on accessories.
If your Entry feels plain, don’t immediately assume it needs more decor.
It may just need one stronger material.
The easiest way to know whether your room needs more texture or simply has too much stuff?
Look at the materials before you look at the accessories.
